stereo to 5.1
My company wants to re-release their dvds in 5.1 surround. How would I go about using the existing stereo audio and creating 5.1? Also, how would i set up my iMac to monitor 5.1?

You should try using the audio out put (headphone jack) with it set to optical. Then with the right cable, you should be able to go out to a home theater 5.1 system.
Or you can get a firewire audio box. There are a bunch of different kinds.

I have a friend who specializes in this. If you have the original audio stems it might be possible to remix into real surround sound. If all you have is a stereo mix, it can be sort of faked. If you want to get my friend’s contact info, email me off list at arniepix (at) arniepix (dot) com
