I’ve been trying to export a five minute .mov from FCP (stereo music, one mono dialogue track, one stereo dialogue track) and having problems finding the optimum volume for an export that will eventually be uploaded to vimeo. On one export/upload it will be too quiet, the next, I’ll go crashing through the ceiling and the audio peaks – frustrating.

In other DAW’s I can ACTUALLY HEAR when the audio is starting to peak – how do I protect myself from this in FCP.

All the elements are mixed correctly relative to one another – I’m just curious about BEST PRACTICES regarding where the master fader should be (relative to tone, monitor output) how to use normalization and peak detection (i know where they are and what they do) to achieve the best effect.

    Many thanks in advance,

    H
