Activity Forums Boris FX Particle Illusion Stays Visible

Alright so I have a logo that enters the stage but afterwards it fades out due to the emitter I am using. However, I want the image, in this case the logo to stay on the stage and then fade out later or even just add an explosion over it and it disappears. I want to know how I may go about doing this

Is it from one of the logo emitter libraries? You might be able to get it to stay longer just by adjusting the Life property, though it’s hard to say without seeing the settings on the emitter.

If that fails, you may want to make another emitter with just that particle shape and and make it a “single particle” – This makes the particle live a really long time, and you could then use the visibility property to fade it up and down when you wanted it to disappear.

Just make sure it’s in the same place and looks to be the same size as your current emitter’s particle shape (the image you want to keep on screen) so it matches up.

You can find the Single Particle option in the emitter properties in the particles tab.

Thanks Aharon but the logo becomes brighter when it is in the current emitter. And Elvis the emitter is Eki’s “MTV” Style 02 0 if that helps. I tried to find out how to make it fade out by going through the emitter and particle properties but I can’t find it. Maybe you could have a look.

use the other emitter’s visibility property to fade it out as you fade the new one on.

Okay, that one has keyframes in a lot of places, but it’s easy to stretch out it’s time on screen.

Basically, it has high Motion Randomness and Velocity settings, which are then animated to go down to 0 at a certain time, causing all those particles to stop going every which way, and stop moving altogether. The reason that the logo fades out is because the Number graph is also animated to stop creating new particles not long after the MoRand and the Velocity shut down. That’s what’s causing the fade out to happen- no new particles.

So long story short, if you go to the Number graph and move the two keyframes ahead a couple of frames (they are at frame 36 and 37 by default I think), the logo will stay on the screen longer. If you want the wacky movement to go on longer as well, move the keyframes on the MoRand and Velocity graphs ahead too.
