Status of Vegas 11 and Newblue Titler crashing
Posted by Gary Abraham on January 5, 2012 at 7:39 pmHi
I have Vegas 10 and just added Vegas 11 on a 64 bit system.
Testing out 11 with NewBlue titler results in constant crashes every few minutes. I could only find a 2 month old post suggesting a tough work around. What is evryone’s experience with this now? I did download the Dec 15th vegas 11 update.
Thanks,

January 5, 2012 at 11:11 pmI have the build 511 of VP11, and have regular crashes, too, when I use the titler – but not as often as you. Too bad because it’s great… and GPU accelerated.
Interested in suggestions as well.

January 6, 2012 at 11:43 amI don’t have a solution but had the same problem but only in certain projects which is strange. I’m staying with Vegas10 for a while. Not worth trying to fight it.

January 6, 2012 at 4:17 pmFirst of all, there’s a new forum here where you can post NewBlueFX inquiries:
https://forums.creativecow.net/newbluefx
Secondly, if you don’t post a help ticket at newbluefx.com, I can’t gather the necessary information to try and figure out what is common between the people that are reporting crashes versus the many people that are not. I’ve really not been seeing crashes on my system and I know many other users have not as well. Of course there’s so many variations of systems that we can’t test every possible scenario.
I can say: ATI cards seem to have many more issues than nVidia cards.

May 25, 2012 at 5:06 pmI had no problems with Vegas 11 64bit build 683, until I loaded the NewBlue titler. I can’t even put a clip on the timeline now, without it crashing. Uninstalling NewBlue did not help. It might be a coincidence,
even uninstalling Vegas and reinstalling did not help. I went back to V.8.1 of Vegas and it works. Is it possible to have two different versions(8 & 11) installed at the same time?Bob

May 28, 2012 at 2:52 pmWell, it probably was a coincidence. I had no crashes until I installed NewBlue. Even though my GPU met the requirements for NBTP, it said it did not.

May 28, 2012 at 7:03 pmI changed GPU acceleration of video processing to “off” and the crashes stopped(for now anyway). My card is a Radeon HD 6490M 1 gig (HP laptop).

May 29, 2012 at 1:31 pmYou’re on a MOBILE card. These cards are designed to work in one of two modes:
1. Full Powered – fully compatible mode
2. Low Powered – NOT compatible modeWhen running Vegas, you MUST make sure that it stays in full powered mode. There should either be a control panel or BIOS setting (or both) to prevent it from going into low powered mode.
So it’s quite possible that Titler was reporting incompatible because it was running in low powered mode.

May 29, 2012 at 1:40 pmThanks, I’ll look into that. I think the Radeon is fighting with the on board Intel graphics.

May 29, 2012 at 3:34 pmThe Radeon was set to “full” but I still got the NewBlue error message. It said add a video card to your system. Setting Vegas to use GPU for video rendering got the crashes coming back. What a mess.
