Static/interference in lav mic
I am using apurture’s a lav for smartphone with an iPod 4g. I recorded a bit of audio and there is a terrible static noise with it. It does not happen every time, most often it is fine. This problem has happened before when using the apple earbud mic with the iPod. In case it helps, When the problem happened before I was recording in downtown Toronto, and this time it was at a busy public fair. Any ideas what is causing this so I can prevent it in the future?

The “static” is being generated by the phone as it modulates with the sound level of the people talking. Do you get better sound when you don’t use a plugin lav on the phone?

Thats what I thought at first, but most of time it works with no issues. The phone is on airplane mode also.

Sounds to me like the level hitting the input electronics is too high.
Does it get any better if you decrease the input gain?
