    Hi There,

I’m using an AJA Io with a Mackie 1202 mixer. After a couple of hours of working I start to get what sound like static pops coming through the speakers. Does anyone know how I can prevent this? It’s driving me nuts!!! The pops don’t seem to embed them selves in the audio tracks when digitzing or outputting to tape. They seem to only come through over the speakers.

    Thanks,

    Chris

“Static pops” describes the noise, vaguely, but offers no clues about the source. Your guess is much better than anything we could offer since you hooked ’em up and you’re looking at ’em.

If the noises are not going to or coming from your editor, they are being introduced downstream of the audio output from the card. You start by eliminating one possible source at a time: the speakers themselves, AC supply, cabling, external hookups like headphones or USB thingies, where they’re sitting, time of day or length of service, length of power-on status or length of editing session. If you make a comprehensive list, it’s probably 40 items.

You must change only a single item at a time or you will never be able to tell what the definitive cause was.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
