    Hi,

I have searched the COW forums and pretty extensively online for a good tutorial or detailed suggestion as to how to create a starfield fly through. Is it possible to create one without Trapcode plugins? I use AE 6.5 Pro.

Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide.

try cc particle world. it should be part of the ae6.5 pro bundle. if you don’t have it, look on the ae install disk in the extras folder for cycore and run that installer (you may also want to install some of the other extras, like keylight and color finesse, while you are there….

anyway, set the producer x and y radius to 1.0 and set the physics gravity to 0. ram preview that and see if that’s close. you can set the color of the particles and particle type in the particle settings…

    Kevin,
Thanks! This effect is quite good. I suppose it would be more artistically perfect with the Particular plug-in, but it does a nice job as is.
    Thanks again!

Hmmm, an interesting problem I am having with my rendered .avi is that the motion is choppy – almost staggered in movement – and does not “fly” through smoothly. Motion blur on/off doesn’t seem to matter. Any suggestions? 29.97fps…

does the problem seem to be that the star movement is too great, like they are moving so fast that the movement seems disjointed, or strobe like?

if so, you could add the echo effect…. set the number of echoes to an amount that makes the motion seem more smooth. for the operator, composite in back should work, but you can try add, screen or maximum. you can adjust the decay a little too if needed.
