Standardizing Frame rate to 29.97
I shot with my Canon XLH1 (29.97i HDV), my second camera guy shot with a Sony fs700 (AVCHD). He wanted to shoot high speed, which I agreed to, but I figured he’d shoot 59.94 and I’d simply double the speed. That doesn’t seem to be the case.
(I was going to use PP CS6 but bailed, a long story) After bringing everything into FCP 7.0.3 as Pro Res 4:2:2 (the Sony stuff came through Log & Capture and my Canon footage was via HD SDI and a Black Magic mini Deckline recorder) My footage shows as 29.97 and the Sony footage shows as 23.98. It’s clearly slow mo, but taking the speed to 200% doesn’t sync it, so I’m thinking it was shot at 47.96? According to Sony the fs 700 can shoot at:
PS: max 28 Mbps, 1920 x 1080/60p, 50p (16:9)
FX: max 24 Mbps, 1920 x 1080/60i, 50i, 30p, 25p, 24p (16:9)
1280 x 720/60p, 50p (16:9)FH: approx. 17 Mbps (average), 1920 x 1080/60i, 50i, 30p, 25p, 24p (16:9)
1280 x 720/60p, 50p (16:9)HQ: approx. 9 Mbps (average), 1440 x 1080/60i, 50i (16:9)
LP approx. 5 Mbps (average), 1440 x 1080/60i, 50i (16:9)
HQ: approx. 9 Mbps (average), 720 x 480/60i, 720 x 576/50i (16:9, 4:3)
How do I know, and can anyone suggest a correct speed?
Thanks,
Jeff
