I’ve done some research and it seems that to prepare GFX for a 16:9 production in standard 720 x 486 nonsquare production, I need to prepare my Graphics at a 864 x 486 (square pixel) resolution, then scale to 720 x 486 for import.

    Why when I use the 720 x 540 on a regular basis would I not use 864 x 540 in widescreen?

*the project I’m doing will be in the D1 specs*

Secondly, does this change when I do DV production at 16:9 or would I just drop the 486 to 480?

    WS 860 X 480 or 486

    720 X 1.2 = 860

    720 X 540 = 540 X.9 = 486

    .9 and 1.2 are PARs

Suggest you download Photoshop for Video podast and pick up my book which goes very in depth on topic

The Podcast you are referring to is located where? Who produces it?

I’ll look into the book. Is it available online? Can I purchase it directly from you?
