I have an old Matthews folding stand whose top section just came out, along with the little piece of metal which the knob squeezes against the top section to secure it. I put it back together and used it, carefully, today. But I couldn’t see how to prevent it from coming out again. And I may have lost some other crucial part, though I looked.

It can be dangerous to have a stand that does this, especially when adjusting a hot fixture. Can I repair this? Does anyone know of a place to get repair advice? I’m on the East Coast, so shipping to Matthews in CA is kind of costly.

    Thanks.

Short of finding a suitable repair facility where you live ( a Mathews dealer or large lighting/grip rental house) you might try calling Mathews for some guidance on how to do the repair yourself. It’s not “rocket surgery”

It’s just as you said — they gave me advice on how to fix the stand. Great customer service, down to just how hard to tap the hammer.

    Thanks.
