Stand Alone lens flare
Posted by Toby Van kleeck on February 27, 2007 at 1:39 amHow do I animate a lens flare effect as if it were a stand alone entity as opposed to having to be attached to a layer? Thanks in advance to any replies!

February 27, 2007 at 2:47 amActually, I should have mentioned that I need it to be able to go in front of other layers as well as if it had an alpha channel. If I try to make it fly in front of another layer and around the screen (assuming its attached to the solid) won’t the solid block everything behind it out? Basically, I’m trying to do a faux 3D effect by taking a lens flare, manipulating the position and size and then splitting the layer so it’s in front of, then behind another layer. So, when one split side of the animated lens flare dissappears, the other split side of the later appears giving it the perceived effect of the lens flare circling another layer. It’s kinda hard to describe…

February 27, 2007 at 6:24 amUnmultiply the flare using Knoll Unmult, XMult, Walker Alpha Tool/ WE Premultiply, Channel Combiner, Compuind Arithemtic, Shift Channel or whatever other effect you deem suitable. Has been discussed a bazillion times.
