    Dear folks,

Using AfterEffects I’m trying to smooth out some aerial video images that I have. I’m having no problem with the position setting but when I also try to include the rotation (badly needed because the horizontal shake is quite pronounced) I get the image rotating pretty dramatically (sometimes as much as 90 degrees). I think I’m doing something wrong. Going to the rotation setting in the layer reveals a lot of keyframes.

How can I correct for this so that I can get a useable image. I think the shake is slight enough that I should be able to do it effectively.

All help would be greatly appreciated.

    cheers

    Chris

If you feel that rotation needs to be stabilised as well, I would suggest as follows:

    1. Stabilise the rotation.
    2. Add “null” to your comp.
    3. Parent your stabilised footage to the “null”
    4. Recreate the rotation using “null”. Try to use just a few keyframes. Sometimes only two is enough. I would suggest one at the beginning, one at the end, and then tweak the rotation in between if needed.
