Stabilizing a shot using a single target Reference Point possible?
Hi,
I need to stabilize a shot using a single reference point – in this case, a white dot. In other words, I want that white dot to stay fixed on the X/Y axis, no matter what other parts of the image move.
The problem is I can’t figure out how to tell Warp Stabilizer what reference point to focus on.
Is this possible in premiere?
Or do I have to go to After Effects for this? If so, how do I do this in After Effects? 🙂

Ok, I see how to do this in After Effects.
1) Select your layer
2) Choose Animation > Track Motion
3) In the Tracker Window choose Stabilize Motion
4) Move the Tracker Crosshairs onto the DOT you want to track
5) In the Tracker Window, press Play to Analyze.
6) In the Tracker Window, press Apply. Choose X/Y axis only.
Watch the magic.

But you can’t do this in Premiere?

Sorry but this feature is limited to After Effects.

Peter and James are correct – this is an AE feature. The point tracker is the oldest tracker in AE. The Camera Tracker and Mocha are two newer ones that might also serve you well.
Anyway, the help file is very useful in describing how to get a good point track with the tool.
