The new stabilize feature in ver 10 pro is really quite amazing. I purposly shot a shaky, and bad panning, tilt, zoom with a 1920×1080 60p .mts format camera and still it worked. Had to customize a project setting and some render presets to work with the 60p, but it works! So far I found only Vegas Pro and After Effects to handle 1080 60p, again thanks Sony!! There is a little distortion on the stabilized clip where the shaking was the worst, but it could defenetly save a normally unusable file. Way to step it up Sony!

Now just give us a good keyer with spill suppresion, and the ability to add shadows for the key, like Keylight. I know the shadows aren’t from keylight but a virtual light and a transparent solid to accept casted shadows. I wouldn’t have to leave Vegas during my workflow if it had a better chromakeyer. Not even for audio. Vegas rocks!

I tried it as well and it worked very well for some hand held wedding footage I had been given, but the cropping was too excessive. If the shot is too tight, it does not look right after stabilisation. But I agree it is a great addition to the editors tool kit.

Have you tried Boris Continuum Complete 7 (BCC7) for Vegas Pro 10? It’s Chroma Keyer is right up there with Keylight and it’s GPU accelerated (OpenGL). It has spill suppression, matte chokers & cleaners and even light wrap! It’s an impressive set of tools for Vegas Pro 10.

Of course if you can’t afford to spend that much, the NewBlue FX chroma keyer in Video Essentials II is very impressive for the money. There is no need to leave Vegas to get great chroma key.

I’ve tried older ver of both. Does Boris still make you to set your key on one frame? Can you see the keyed person over the background in the preview for at least a few frames a sec? If it workw like a realtime pluggin, I will check it out again. Thanks John.

No. BCC7 is fully integrated into Vegas Pro 10 and you can play your keyed footage back in real-time because it’s GPU accelerated. You really need to check it out again.
