I know how to stabilise a static shot (or an attempted static hand held shot) but if the camera is moving forward on a tracking device, but the camera is a bit jumpy – whats the best way to stabilise it so the ending shot is a smooth forward motion?

If you have a point in the shot that stays in the entire shot, then you can track that point and apply tracking to only Y…if you do not, then you may need to cut the clip up and do the tracking in segments, then adjust the Y position of each segment to match the other segments…

But what if the point is in the shot but is growing in size because the camera is getting closer?

Then I would think that you need a 3d tracker, as you would need to get the z position…. I am really not all that sure, as I have never had to do this.
