Hello everyone, I am new to subtitling. I have an srt file I would like to import to a documentary in FCP X, but when I do so, it appears with a black background, which I don’t like. Even though I try to change it, I can only change the color of the letters have no idea how to eliminate the background. Is it even possible to do so? Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

There’s an app called Captionator that allows you to change the background color or eliminate it. It also creates captions from audio or video files. See it in the App Store. I think it costs $20 US. Brian Murray, the developer, has a couple fairly detailed videos about it.

Be aware that the black background is part of the Closed Caption standard, and can’t be deviated if you do encoded CCs on a film.
