I’m sorry, don’t understand what you are asking.

When I move a movie file to the video timeline for editing, it is my understanding that Vegas splits the file into video and audio timlines. This does not happen with my program.

I assume then when you play the timeline you get no audio?
When you preview the clip in the project media do you get any audio?
It sounds like a codec problem. Your system probably does not have a codec to ‘read’ the file. You can use the free utility G-spot to see what codec is needed and whether you have it on your system. If not you can Google it and find a codec and download it. You mightthink that because you use a Sony camera and a Sony Software that they would automatically be in communication. Unfortuantely, they are like two completely separate companies and like a husband and wife sometimes do not communicate very well.

That is exactly what happens. Thanks for the info Terry.

I have used gspot to check my Vegas program, and I get “n.a.” for my editing codecs. Any ideas?
