splitting video/audio
Posted by Christian Dickinson on May 13, 2009 at 6:28 pmDoes anyone know why 9 Platinum Ed. will not split video and audio from my Sony HDD camcorder?

May 13, 2009 at 9:18 pmWhen I move a movie file to the video timeline for editing, it is my understanding that Vegas splits the file into video and audio timlines. This does not happen with my program.

May 13, 2009 at 11:00 pmI assume then when you play the timeline you get no audio?
When you preview the clip in the project media do you get any audio?
It sounds like a codec problem. Your system probably does not have a codec to ‘read’ the file. You can use the free utility G-spot to see what codec is needed and whether you have it on your system. If not you can Google it and find a codec and download it. You mightthink that because you use a Sony camera and a Sony Software that they would automatically be in communication. Unfortuantely, they are like two completely separate companies and like a husband and wife sometimes do not communicate very well. -

May 18, 2009 at 4:22 pmI have used gspot to check my Vegas program, and I get “n.a.” for my editing codecs. Any ideas?
