Splitting thousands of images evenly
Hey guys,
I’ve been given around 10,000 images that are all 4 smaller pictures in a 2×2 grid. What I need to do is split all of these out and re-save them as Filename_1.jpg through Filename_4.jpg.
The actual files themselves range through all sorts of dimensions, like say 100×100 to 400×100. The individual pictures within the file will always be half the resolution in each direction, so essentially I need to crop out each “corner”. So in the 400×100 example the result with be 4 images that are 200×50 (top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right — in that order).
I was trying to figure out a way to batch this process using Photoshop (CS6) and haven’t really come up with anything. You can do Canvas Size and push the grid button for the corner you want and then cut the resolution in half, but I’m not sure how to do that in a repeatable way that gets all 4 corners for every image, and then renames them to Filename_1.jpg, before moving on to the next one.
Any ideas would be appreciated, even if it involves another program. Maybe I can hire a guy to make some sort of PHP script? I dunno. Thanks!
