    Hi,

Just wanted to say thanks again to this forum for the help it’s provided me in the past.

I was wondering if it’s possible to split an already drawn path in After Effects. An example would be creating a shape path that consists of 2 points and cutting that path in half (creating 2 new paths).

The paths were cut from Illustrator and pasted into After Effects. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions, thanks!

I believe Nat is talking about the shape vector path not the motion path.

Yup, I am talking about the shape vector path!

Is there any way to cut and paste paths into Illustrator from After Effects? I would be able to split the path in there and then re-import into After Effects I’m thinking.

Thanks for the fast responses so far!

Why not make the path in Illustrator to begin with? It’s got all kinds of scissor-y-like tools you need for that kind of thing.

Yes. See “Copy a path from Illustrator, Photoshop, or Fireworks”.

    Thanks Todd,

I must be missing something. Does it work the other way around as well (AE to Illustrator)?

    Sorry. I misread.

Yes, you can copy and paste paths from After Effects to Illustrator.
