  • Splitting Audio Once Captured

We captured audio, PP brought it in as two separate tracks but linked, now we want to split out the tracks in PP so we can eliminate one of them. Not apparent that there is a tool to do this easily. How is this accomplished. We are editing as I write this so any quick response would be appreciated

    Thanks!

Are you using PPro 2? If yes, it’s easy. Choose a clip, go to the Clip pull-down menu, go to Audio Options, then choose Source Channel Mappings. From there you can pick what you want.

You can only change the channel mapping for a clip before you put that clip in any timeline. If the clip is used anywhere, you can’t change the mapping…except… if you want to change the mapping on a clip already in use, just create a subclip of that clip (it can be the exact same In and Out) and then you can change the channel mapping on that new clip and use it where you want. This is handy if you want to change the mapping of a clip and you’ve already used it elsewhere.

    Hi Brett,

Thanks a lot. I have follow your step and able to splite the audio & Video file from the clip. After that there are 2 audio file, one left & one right.

Please help again to advise how to combine the two audio into one and also how to save/export the audio clip in my pc for future use.

    Thanks.

I’m not sure I understand why you need to separate the audio from the video. The method I talked about means you don’t need to. Why not do it in Source Channel Mapping? As far as exporting the clip, you place it in the timeline, go under File, Export, Audio.

    Hi Brett,

I need to use the voice over audio from the movie clip to produce a radio commercial. By using your way [source channel mapping], the audio has been splite in two – left & right. When I export the audio, it’s only in mono mmode.

Is it a way I can combine the left & right audio before export it in stero mode?

    THanks.
