Split-screen zoom out from one clip to many clips
Hey there!
I’ve been thinking about a way to do this for days now, so I’m going to ask you guys, who most surely know more about this than I do.
I’m working on a project and I want that, at one point, the clip starts zooming out (but remaining in the top left corner), revealing many other clips (a split-screen).
What I cannot figure out is how to do the zooming out: I want the first clip to remain “still” (I don’t want it to MOVE to the top left corner), but I’d prefer it to look like the camera is getting farther from the image (thus revealing all the other clips).
I’ve tried this with a 4way split screen, scaling to 25, nesting the 4 clips and then adding anchor points to the nested sequence (treating it like a still image), but of course the nested sequence is scaled 100, so for the initial bit I have to scale it to 200 to have the clip full screen.
It doesn’t look right.Any ideas, solutions?

Likely better to approach this in AE as Jon said.
BUT in PPro
If you build this animation as an element in it’s own Sequence as a full screen animation
then you use that sequence as a scaled down clip in your main edit (nesting).

Well, I hoped there was some kind of tutorial available for this… I wish I could find a video example!
However, scaling down to 25, nesting and then having to scale up again just doesn’t look right. The quality isn’t as good.
Any advice on how to do it in after effects or should I post a thread over there?

then you nested timeline needs to be oversized in it’s resolution and not the same size as the destination timeline.
