split screen
Posted by John Scott on April 8, 2010 at 8:41 amI have an excellent video spoiled by catching the heads of spectators in the bottom quarter of the screen i.e. the whole screen left to right.
Is there a way I can remove that bottom quarter so that I end up with a video without the heads showing ?
many thanks

April 8, 2010 at 10:53 amYou could use Pan/Crop on the Event to crop them out. The default behavior for Pan/Crop is to Stretch to fill frame. You must turn this OFF in the properties under Source. Then anything you crop will just be cut off. If you hold Ctrl+Alt while you drag, it will override Lock Aspect and Size About Center which you don’t want in this case. (you could always disable those manually as well)

April 8, 2010 at 2:29 pmGreat tip, John. Now can you move the underlying picture WITHOUT using Track Motion or is my cropped face, for example, always going to be in the same position onscreen? I know this can be done with Track Motion, but that requires a seperate track for each element.

April 8, 2010 at 5:25 pmHmmm.. When I move the crop area the picure element remains stationary. This is something I’d love to do. Been making “slideshows” in Vegas forever. Would like to position 2 pics side by side w/out Track Motion.
Still tryin’. -

Follow my tutorial: Creating a Split Screen using a Mask and it will show you how with just Pan/Crop.
