Split Screen
Hi – I’d like to be able to do “split screen” and I found a way of doing this by firstly editing the clip, cropping and zooming to the required thickness, then using “track motion” to move the two clips up and down to the required position on screen.
However, as I’m doing a montage/highlights vid, I have dozens of clips… as the track motion affects the WHOLE track, not just the clip, do I have to put each new clip on a new track or am I missing an obvious way of moving the clip around without moving the whole track?

You use keyframes to define the positioning at any given moment in the track.
Be aware that the position will change on its own between keyframes if you don’t repeat a keyframe right before you want the change to happen. You could also set the keyframe interpolation to Hold for instant changes to avoid the in-between motion.

Thanks Gary. Could you just clarify, “You could also set the keyframe interpolation to Hold for instant changes” for me please? Don’t quite understand that?

If you right-click on a keyframe you can choose different interpolation curves. One of the choices is Hold, which is not a curve, but keeps your setting until the next keyframe.
