split layer up into random lines
Hi,
i desperatly need some help with this!
what i need to do is split a layer up into lines, and have those lines move off screen, some to the left, some to the right, randomly. so we start with a black screen, then these lines move in, and sync up to form the image. i’d like those lines to be dynamic, so that i can change the thickness if i want to. seems like such a simple effect, like there would be a transition for this, but i cant find one.
and short of splitting the layer up with masks, and animating each one, i have no idea what to do.thanks

yeah i tried that one, almost there, but it alternates the left and right motion, where as i need it to be random.

yeah that almost works, but i’m dealing with a very wide comp, 11k by 1000k and i can’t get the displace to go far high enough.

Use two (or more) copies of the displace effect.
