I’ve done a little looking around, and can’t seem to find anything like this existing already. Maybe one of you have come across it?

Let’s say I have a VO track I’m timing my animation to, and I’ve gone through and added a bunch of markers. I get halfway through, and realize I’d like to add 10 frames of space between a section.

So, I split the layer and move the second part down… but now I’ve got a huge marker mess. Unsightly to look at, confusing, and really clutters up any J/K marker-jumping abilities.

Has anyone seen (or built) a script that will split a layer and divide the markers onto the existing portions? Think this functionality is possible?

Any other suggestions of a more efficient workaround? I generally just spend the time to go through and delete the extra markers one by one, but it’s a big time suck (and annoying!), and I’ve had this come up enough that it finally occurred to me to ask. =)

    Thanks in advance!

Audrey, I think you might be misunderstanding my question. I’m talking about the markers you add manually to a layer in AE, just for your own reference purposes.

Not talking about tracking. This is just a workflow thing.

(Also, even if Boujou did what I was asking, I think for $10k, I’ll deal with manually deleting them…)

I actually sent in a Feature Request to overcome this issue. I asked for (1) a chainsaw cursor that would cut out unwanted markers quickly by just zipping across markers – sort of an automated way as compared to the current scissor implementation which requires a mouse click on each marker
    (2) delete markers of selected layers within the Work Area

You can send these in if you like them or send in your own options to https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
