Spinning Custom 3D Extruded Layers Around Objects
This is my issue. I’ve created extruded three illustrator files by copying them, off-setting them in z-space, and then pre-composing the copies (40 per object, two rings and the center = 3 objects). What I want to do is have the two rings spin on a center axis around the center. My issue is that since the layers are stacked the portions of the ring that should pass behind the center as it spins do not, which ruins the effect.
My question is whether anyone knows of a way to enable the rings to properly spin around the object without the portions that should pass behind the center showing up in front? Feel free to ask for more images.
I fully understand how the stacking of layer affects this, however I am sure someone has found a workaround to achieve a look like this?
I also realize that AE CS6 can create 3D extruded objects. But as you can see below, my system specs won’t allow for much versatility thus I have to resort to other methods.
