    hi guys,
creating a series of planes in 3d space is easy enough but how could I get them to face the camera.

the nearest thing I can think of is maya – constraining a polyplanes face to point at the camera but I dont know how it would be done in afx and something similar must be possible?

    cheers

Not 100% positive on this as i have a render going currently, but try this…

To activate or deactivate Auto-Orient for a layer:

    1. Display the Timeline and Composition windows for a composition.
    2. In the Timeline window, select the layer you want to modify.
    3. Choose Layer > Transform > Auto-Orient.
    4. Do one of the following, and click OK:
    * To activate Auto-Orient, choose Orient Toward Camera.
    * To deactivate Auto-Orient, choose Off.

This is under “Understanding 3D auto-orientation” in the help file.

    hiya
this didn’t work as my camera is imported from a maya scene and there are a couple of cameras so it hasn’t pointed to the one I’m using – gutted.
