Spilt Audio tracks 1 channel Interview 1 channel Ambient — Take ambient out.
I have a few clips that have an interview on 1 track and background noise on the other.
If I put the clip on the timeline is there a way to split the 2 tracks so I can just use the Interview part of it?
I know I can make my Audio Channels Dual Mono and take the background noise channel out and double up on the interview channel.
Is there an easier way than that and have it still be stereo?

Hello Adam. Before you place footage in the timeline, Right-click it and select Modify -> Audio. You can provide “instructions” there for hoe you want Premiere Pro to handle the audio. You can tell it to use one channel only, and which channel you want it to use.

If you have Audition the better way is this.
Click the Audio and from the edit menu send it to Audition.
In Audition you have the controls for using either a frequency spectrum display, or a pitch Spectrum display.
By Zooming into the wave form and the twospectrum displays you can isolate the exact sound you want to remove or reduce. ( sometimes you need the ambience.)
The frequency spectrum will help you find the frequencies to reduce by EQ.
The pitch spectrum will be the tool for removing the really annoying sudden sounds and leaving the rest all but untouched. There are erase tools and various ways to reduce or totally remove things like Ice Cream truck jingle PAs, office shouting, sirens etc. It is very satisfying to surgically remove them and leaving what remains.
