hey, i’m doing a Spider-Man spoof and i need some ideas on how to animate the webs that he shoots out when he is swinging in the air. I know how to make him swing, i just need to know how to animate a string like substance coming from his hand

[half-serious]: Is shooting a can of silly string against a green screen an option?
The first thing that came to my mind when I read this is After Effects. It would be not trivial, but relatively simple to accomplish this with, off the top of my head, an animated distort effect (on a stringy looking layer) or a particle generator.
