    Hi,

I’ve seen a technique used in the Cinebench CPU test that I really like. You can access the project file as the gorilla talks about here:

    https://greyscalegorilla.com/blog/2010/08/secret-cinebench-scene-files/

There’s a sphere on the right which has a pattern etched into it. The object is a polygon object with a sphere inside. The inside sphere giving a different texture to the outside texture so that the etching has more impact. I was looking for some sort of texture mapping to create the effect but can’t find any. DOes anyone know how this effect is created.

Any suggestions would be great! 🙂

    many thanks,
    Jack

It looks like the holes in the outer sphere were created with booleans, or possibly with a plugin called Edge Extrude Pro which lets you cut holes with splines.
