  • Speeding up playback

Ok so Im sure this isn’t the first time someone has asked this but as an ex motion user I find the playback within After Effects to be an issue. I’m sure there are many variables here; computer, comp size, footage res, no of filters etc etc

But if anyone could give some general tips on how to speed up playback that would be great.

    Thanks

    Ben

Speeding up playback how? What are you doing and what are you expecting AE to do?

Ah ok to clarify. I’m not trying to change the duration of a speed of a clip, I am trying to improve the performance of playback when I am previewing footage. When clips load into ram etc. So when I am trying stuff out, clicking play and the playback is slow until loaded into RAM. Just general tips for speeding up playback.

AE doesn’t play the video back like an NLE or a video player would. Everything loads up first and then plays back. Even if you would only play back a video without any effects on it.

The next version is boasting a bunch of performance stuff so maybe we’ll have a quicker AE soon.
