Speeding up digitising, TOD code

I think I know the answer, but hey, there might be a timesaver somewhere.
I am working on a week long project where tapes will be digitised overnight for me to edit with the next day. Probably
up to 8 to 10 tapes, 30 mins a day. It is all off digibeta and will have time of day timecode with gaps. As FCP is very slow in finding timecode breaks,
what capture method would people recommend? I have to keep the TOD code as there are multiple angles that I need to sync up
as well – something that I cannot do with finding a reference point either.Log & capture? 🙁

There is no FREE LUNCH with this situation. Either you spend the time loggging and capturing, hopefully catching EVERY TC break, or you mark in at the start of the tape and out at the end and let FCP do it’s thing.
We’ve found that FCP deals with TOD code at about 1.5x real time. This number is totally dependent on how many breaks you have. In general, that’s the average figure we’ve found.

Oh yes…I’ve experienced the frustratingly slow recues too but FWIW I’ve recently been doing some captures over Firewire and FCP was noticably faster at picking up after a TC break. So perhaps it’s a RS422-only problem.
Not that that’s much consolation Peter, sorry! Out of interest, does PictureReady make new clips on TC breaks?
