Speed up render times?
If i was to get one of those new pentium d dual core 3.2 ghz processors would it speed up render times, compared to my 3.2 ghz single core lga 775?

yes, if you give it enough Ram of course.
Many plugins are not yet designed for multiple processors, so you’ll see more of the speed-increase if you render with a Watch-folder and multiple instances of the After effects and it’s render engine.
Or if you use a solution like Nucleo.
