I have a track of music that I want to slow down in the middle of the song and I want to ease the speed change in so it is not noticeable. I know this is possible using the ramps in the change speed dialog box or the speed tool but neither of them are working for me.

In the change speed dialog box the ramp options are unclickable (you know grey and what not). Using the speed tool the stopwatch only appears when I mouse over the beginning of the clip and doing that I can only change the duration of the clip.

Most tutorials I have watched demonstrate the speed tool with an audio and video clip. Since this is a music track there is only audio.

The audio is a .mp3 file that I have to render when I drag it into the timeline if that makes any difference.

    Help is much appreciated

I don’t know about speed tool…but I never use mp3’s. I get clicks and pops. I always convert mp3’s to AIF or Wave at 48k. my timeline is set to 48k so I never have to render audio.
