    I am wondering, should the speed test give pretty much the same results whether the drive is full or not. I have a set of SATA drives that is now returning relatively slow speed results and i am trying to isolate the problem.

    Hi,

    The Disk Speed Test will report the current throughput of the drive so if the drive is almost full, you’ll find that the speed reported back will be lower than when it is empty. This is normal as SATA drives will slow down as the space gets used up.
