Speed change
We’ve got some DVCPRO 50 footage captured @ Uncompressed 8-bit over SDI via AJA IO. The footage needs to be sped up by about 115%, however, doing this results in some really cruddy footage. It looks fine until we render, at which point there is a distinct strobing or pulsing affect in any highlight areas of motion. We discovered that we can get the problem to go away if we uncheck Frame Blending, but then we’re left with jumpy footage (in spots).
I’ve searched the archives and I’m not coming up with a lot, but I’m getting the feeling that FCP simply can’t do speed changes that are close to the original speed (not because of incapable software but simply because of the math) – is this true? Of course, this goes against the whole principle of Fit-to-Fill, doesn’t it? Is there a secret I am missing somewhere, or do we have to resort to a third-party program (or are there any)?
Many thanks.
