Basically, I’m using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0 and am trying to speed up/slow down sections of a clip. Basically I sped the entire clip up by 1.5x except for a brief segment a few seconds long that was slowed to about .25x. I did so using CTRL+click and dragging the clip in the timeline to adjust it.

In the preview window it looks perfect. Shows things going the proper speed throughout. However, when I actually render it it’s just black. The overlay I have at the beginning as a title-screen shows up, but once it fades and the video is supposed to kick in it’s just black. Audio is there though and in fine condition. Whenever I get to the section that is slowed down that is shown just fine, but once it goes back to the 1.5x part it just goes black again. Any idea what is causing this? I’ve tried rendering in both .mov and .wmv (the only file types I’m allowed to submit for this project) but I can’t figure out anything else that would fix this.

Someone else might do a better job diagnosing your problem. However, if this were happening to me, I would try rendering it out in the same format as the source footage, perhaps even just the trouble spots. Then import that file back into your timeline and, from that, render out to one of the formats allowed for the project.
