Spectramatte effect – greenscreen has small area with chipped paint
Hello all,
I did some talking head interviews in front of a green screen. Unfortunately some of the green paint chipped off and is in the shot. White plaster behind the chipped green paint. Spectramatte works great for the key except I’m not sure of the best or most effecient way to cover up the area with the missing green paint. Actually I know that the top two answers would be you’re an idiot followed by reshoot. Is their a tool in Avid that would allow me to key out this small area or perhaps paint over it? Kind of like a garbage matte in After Effects. When I use the Avid Chroma Keyer it completely ignores this small white area but I still end up with the green cast on my subject. Spectramatte is great for the key and I can remove the green cast on my subject but the missing paint area still exists. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I also have Boris FX if that can help.

Time to dive into the best-kept Avid effects secret – Animatte. Place a copy of whatever is supposed to be seen where the chip is (your background layer?) on an upper track. Use Animatte to create a mask around that area so you’ve patched over the hole.

Two other options. one is to us the paint effect on the greenscreen shot and paint out the problem areas with a matching green sampled from your scree.
The second is to use the crop in Spectramatte assuming nothing in the foreground passes over the the area that has the shipped paint.
