  • Specific background and evolution question about slideshow on youtube

    Hey guys,

I have been using after effects and watching VideoCoPilot’s videos for a solid two days, so I am basically a lost newb. But after watching this youtube slideshow at:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dfr2qfL2ro

I have a pretty good understanding of everything that was used in the video expect two things…

    1. I am just totally confused about how he created the different backgrounds that flowed into eachother. Is it likely they were all seperate comps, that he just pieced together or how was it done? I understand how to make backgrounds like that, I just do not understand how to be able to pan from one background to another and have everything on the other background disappear when it disappears. Is there a specific tutorial on the web that deals with this that I have not been able to find.

    2. I saw VideoCoPilot’s video on evolution, but I am still a bit confused by how the evolution elements were used in this video. How did he manage to make them flow into each new background as one nice single strand? Was this just a matter of creating many dupliates and masking off anything he did not want, or is there a simplier solution to have elements move like that?

Thanks so much for any help you can provide.
