  • Special characters in AE7?

I’ve been using AE on Windows for a couple years now, and occasionally I do projects in other languages. After awhile, you get used to and fairly efficient with the Windows way of typing all those accented characters – Alt+number combination.

It always worked fine for me in AE until AE7, where it seems Adobe has completely disabled typing like that. It’s extremely annoying to have to open up Windows’ character map and copy/paste from there.

Just contacted a collegue who is using AE7 and asked him to check because I use an older version of AE and, as you said, it works quite well. He reported the same problem, the Alt+ trick doesn’t work. This is bad news as we do digital signage for other countries that often make use of these special characters. Upgrading to AE7 would make this quite a pain.

Yeah, it really does. Perhaps if enough people contact Adobe about this, they’ll release a patch of some sort.
