Speaking of D-Taps…
Posted by John Cummings on September 15, 2007 at 12:32 amWhy can’t Panasonic put one toward the front of the camera like Sony does?
Very nice to have an extra one one up there.

September 15, 2007 at 12:36 amHi,
Can you clarify what you mean? I have no idea as to what you mean and to which camera you would like this on.
Thanks,
Jan

September 15, 2007 at 1:50 amHi Jan–
I’m talking about an Anton Bauer-style power tap on the camera body. Sony puts them towards the front of some cameras on the handles…for a monitor or light.
My 730 has one, anyway.John

September 15, 2007 at 9:24 amPower up front would be OK, but I’d prefer a 2nd 4-pin Hirose, like Pana already puts on the rear of the HPX500. BUT… that’s only a 12v 1.5A output, so about 18W. The Marshall monitor I’ve got on my 500 draws 25W, so better to power off the AB Powertap anyway.
Jan, if you see this, so far I’m LOVING my 500!

September 15, 2007 at 10:01 amHi John,
You don’t mention which camera and the only camera that we have that doesn’t have a AB tap is the HVX200 and that is mostly because there really isn’t a way to mount the AB battery anywhere nar the camera. The others have it on the Gold Mount itself.
Hope that helps,
Jan

September 15, 2007 at 1:59 pmIt’s just a nice little addition that Sony provides. I’m considering a new Panasonic and just wish they had one. Not a deal breaker by any means.
Perhaps a licensing issue?
Thanks
John
