Spaceship flare / ship engine blast effect, space craft, jet flame / fire glow. How to do? Particular?
Hello! I have a video where I need to get a good flare kind of blast from the back of some elements, to make it appear they are being propelled by a jet flame or space engine, etc.
Here is a link to a screeshot, I need to get a flare or convincing engine glow however you want to word it, to be coming out of the computers below our feet.
Any ideas? I need to do this so quick! Any help would be super appreciated. And thanks in advance for any help.
Please see the attached file for the clip I plan on putting this in. There are four different angled shots I need to place this effect in, front, both sides, and back. It would be ideal if the glow effect could give off the illusion of energy or heat, I think you know what I’m talking about. But ANYTHING would be good at the moment.

Simplest way to do it is to comp the clip on top of itself, mask out the bottom of the computers and create oval shapes on a layer in between. Apply glow and animate – wiggle. If you have Trapcode Shine you could apply that to the ovals- split them, each one on a separate layer and then animate Shine separately on each layer.

Thank you Tudor, I appreciate your help. I am getting closer with the shape layers and effects, but want to get more familiar with the terms here, what do you mean comp the clip on top of itself?

You duplicate the clip layer. Cut out masks for the bottom of the computers in the top layer so that you can introduce the jet/propulsion effect under. Now you have the clip comped (composited) on top of itself…
