source window grief
Posted by Peter Giffen on November 17, 2009 at 7:50 pmSImple question
Can I make selects from source window, overlay onto timeline and then continue to make selects from source and not have to click on the source window to make it active every time. Works this way on avid is this just a setting?
Thanks so much

November 17, 2009 at 8:45 pmYou eventually get accustomed to the huge differences between FCP and Avid or you abandon one of them as unreasonable.
Hitting q will toggle the focus between the viewer and canvas.bogiesan

November 17, 2009 at 8:55 pmNO way, sorry. And you don’t need to click, just press a key. After a while you get used to it. I mapped it to the Y key, as it is close to my I and O keys. As I have Q and W mapped like an Avid, go to in and go to out.

November 17, 2009 at 9:23 pmGo to the TOOLS menu and choose KEYBOARD>CUSTOMIZE. TOGGLE WINDOWS is the name, and it is defaulted to the Q key. You can drag it to whatever key you want.
But you must make this a keyboard action…there is no setting to make it go back to the source window automatically.
