i am new to resolve – so be kind 🙂

i want to use resolve as a daily and grading avid MC roundtrip:

1 importing raw footage in resolve
2 applying a LUT (dont have a clue how to get the right ones)
3 deliver with TC burn ins as low res MXF to MC
4 import in MC (dragging the database in the bin works – so i have audio!)
5 edit, then: export back from avid to resolve via AAF
5 importing the AAF in resolve and grading using to the high res originals

in the timeline of the color page the TC burn ins (SOURCE TC & REC TC)are being shown correctly. but when i deliver (render) the REC TC field shows the Source TC.

is it a bug or is it me going wrong somewhere?
    cheers

hey there – NOW i am on version 9.02.
    and NOW it works properly.

    thanks!

in case you can give me a tip for how to find and install a good cinematic look LUT – this is what i will need desperately 🙂

You need to specify what’s being shot, with what camera, and in what colorspace. You can’t create LUTs without knowing what the input is and what the output needs to be.

    hey mike,

yep, should have been more specific – sorry.

for my first steps i got the technicolor user setting in my canon 5D MK II and finally got the according LUT in resolve. i will test it and see about the results.

i really need to work with Log C footage from the canon C300. i downloaded the 3D conversions yesterday at abelcine (https://blog.abelcine.com/2012/05/16/canon-c300-log-luts-and-more-scene-files/) – but the resulting look is very dark in the blacks and kind of hard in the mids/highlights. but this might be due to original footage, which is not easy to handle. for the moment i work with a simple S-curve to get a decent result..

i have to play around with this stuff – guess its not only a matter about LUTs and S-curves – but more of learning curve 🙂

thanks for your input – martin
