source collection methods
This question isn’t so much about the software side of Vegas, but about getting the source. Let me explain:
My friends and I have Halo 2 “LAN” parties every month or two, and my video partner-in-crime and I have been wanting to record games from these parties. However, it’s not easy to find several computers with capture cards, so we began thinking of alternatives (that’s a lie, we actually gave up and I just thought of this idea). I believe that it will be much easier to find several VCRs and record the games to VHS so we will be able to capture later. However, we all know VHS doesn’t have the best quality. Here’s where my question comes in. Does anyone have a better idea for recording the games?
In case it helps, here’s what I’ve planned out for recording protocol so far:
Set up VCRs on one team, I doubt we’ll have enough VCRs to record both teams comprehensively (we usually hit the player maximum, 16)
Use my Samsung DV camera to record outside the game (in the real world) to get player reactions, trash talk and such
And hopefully Vegas 6’s sync feature will be able to handle all of the streams (I’m about to upgrade, I’ve been using 5)
There’s no rush, our next LAN is early February. If you have a better idea for any of the stuff listed above I would love to hear it.
Thanks.
