  • Source Bitrate?

Hi all! I’m currently migrating from Sony Vegas Pro to Adobe Premiere Pro with a job change, so I will be regularly scouring this forum for answers and tips 🙂

Is there any way to see the original source bitrate within Premiere? I am exporting a file that is much larger than my source and assume I’m using a higher bitrate than I need. I’m now in a corporate environment where downloading MediaInfo may not be an option.

My first suggestion would be along the same lines, download Videolan’s VLC Media Player. Perhaps that is already on the system? CTRL+J will display characteristics, including bitrate, in the “statistics” tab.

    System:
    Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
    Win 7 64-bit
    32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2015.02 (as of 6/2016)
    256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from HD MP4 and P2 MXF.

Good – wouldn’t want to have a media machine without it!
