We are having 12 editingsuites, with a mix of HD extremes, and decklink pros. On all our extremes we are experiencing problems with the sound when playing from the timeline. If we stop, and start, we will maybe 5 out of 10 times experience that sound dissapears for a couple of seconds, even though the picture is running fine.Everything works fine when the sound comes back (until you push stop, and start again)… This only happens on all our Extreme HD cards. Not on the Pros.

The Extremes are installed on quadG5s. Tried different versions of Decklink driver.. from 5.8 to 6.0

This problem occures on uncompressed, dv, dvcpro.. any format that we work with (PAL)

Anyone else seen this problem ??

    Hi Anders,

I notice you are using an Xsan system. Does the problem occur if you play back from a Mac that isn’t using Xsan?

Please run a test by playing PAL DV or uncompressed from the internal disk in your G5 and observe whether the audio dropout still occurs.
