    Hi Everybody,

i have quiet a problem: When I encode my film in Compressor too use it later in DVD Studio Pro, I use the DVD encoding settings High-Quality for 90min and the Dolby Sound for Audio, which is in the same Folder. For some reason, the encoded sound is extremly low, the Volume goes down drastically. Compared to an AIFF export from FCP it’s less than half of the Volume.
How can I push the Volume in the Compressor up?

    Thanx a lot!

    Greetz,

    Sascha

When you drop the Dolby preset onto your file, load it into the Inspector. In the Encoder pane, go into the Audio tab. At the bottom there is Dialog Normalization. Set that to -31dBFS.

I encountered this a while back and had a hard time understanding it in the manual, but I walk away understanding that setting it to -31dBFS will leave your audio untouched.

    Hi Sascha,
    Set Preprocessing> Compression Preset> NONE.

Both Rafael and Rob are correct.

Make your own preset to reflect their advice. Unfortunately the preset included in Compressor is more appropriate for a movie theater sound system than a normal set up.
