Sound Issues With Headphones

April 15, 2010 at 4:20 pmSo with my last Mac Pro I could just plug my headphones into the jack at the front of the tower and the sound would instantly transfer from my external speakers to the headphones.
Now since buying a new Mac Pro when I plug them in, the sound keeps coming out the speakers, not the headphones.
I have to go to system prefs and change it in there, then when I unplug my headphones I have to go back to system prefs and select my speakers again…
It’s very laborious for a video editor like me who often switches betweeen the two.
Can anyone offer any advice?
Running Snow Leopard on a Quad core.
thanks!

1. Try to boot up into safe mode and then reboot. This should clear out some caches that might be corrupt. And if that doesn’t clear it up.
2. Download onyx and clear out the caches with that.
