Sound editing
Posted by Holly Arnold on May 27, 2009 at 3:20 pmI’m using Final Cut Express to edit a video that has a lot of background fuzz on the audio.
Is there anyway to strip this out without losing the audio over it?

May 27, 2009 at 3:30 pmThere are a number of programs that can probably help. Apple’s Soundtrack Pro has noise reduction capabilities. If you search the Cow for noise reduction you should find others.

May 27, 2009 at 3:43 pmFC can not do too much with audio. Try adding a 3 band EQ and fiddling with that, you may be able to isolate some of the frequencies the buzz is from and lower them?

May 27, 2009 at 5:24 pmA parametric EQ would be of more help. Try “sweeping” for the correct frequency by setting the Q to 1 the gain to 20 and “sweeping ” the center frequency to find the offending noise. Turn the main volume lower as this will make it loud. When the offending noise is loudest turn the gain to -20 and move the Q up to taste. This should remove a great deal of the noise in the audio track.
